The Bible Tells Me So!

If a train was barreling toward your car while it was stuck on train tracks, would you want me to pull you from the stuck car or helplessly try and push your car off the tracks?

If your house was burning with flames breaking through the windows and roof, would you have me save you and your children, or grab the water hose and try and put out the fire?

If you were 10 years into sobriety and you find yourself waiting for a ride sitting on a stool in a bar, would you want me to buy you a drink or walk with you out of the bar and into the adjacent diner?

“Do not be afraid of what you are about to suffer. I tell you, the devil will put some of you in prison to test you, and you will suffer persecution for ten days. Be faithful, even to the point of death, and I will give you life as your victor’s crown.”  Revelation 2:10 (NIV)

We are barreling toward eternity.  The true and simple fact is that this short life is the predecessor to the eternity we choose.  I want you to know that Jesus died for my sins and he died for you and your sins.  The better news is that he arose from the dead and invites us to spend eternity with him in Heaven.  Romans 10:9-10 tells us that if we confess Jesus as Lord and that God raised him from the dead, we will be saved.  We are given the right to choose because God loved us so much that he made us in his image.  With the ability to choose.

I saw a video of Penn Gillette from Penn & Teller, an avowed atheist, and he asked the most compelling question.  “How much do you have to hate someone if you believe that everlasting life is possible, and not tell them about it?”  Gut punch here!

“But whoever denies me before others, I will also deny before my Father who is in heaven.”  Matthew 10:33 (ESV)

There is an old saying, “they talk a good game,” with the inference being that their walk or abilities do not match their talk and actions.  What a tragic statement.  The burning of the Believer’s heart should be to share the hope and truth that is Jesus Christ.

“And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.”  Colossians 3:17 (NIV)

So today, let others see the hope, the joy, the calm, the confidence, the gratefulness that reflects the daughter or son of the Most High God.  Offend someone’s sensibilities by showing you care more about where they will spend eternity than their ‘personal space.’  God loves the person coming in your path today as much as he loves you.  Perhaps we should love others enough to be offensive.
