There was a man who lived in the path of a coming hurricane. As others fled inland to higher ground, he boldly said “the Lord will take care of me.”
As the waters reached his door, kind people came by and said get in our truck and we will take you to safety. The man declined and boldly said, “the Lord will take care of me.”
The waters continued to rise and the man moved to his second floor. As he looked out the window, some people came by in a boat and said “get in and we’ll take you to safety.” The man refused and responded, “the Lord will take care of me.”
Still the waters rose and forced the man to the roof of his house. As he sat there a helicopter came by and the people shouted “get in an we’ll fly you to safety,” and the man declined shouting “the Lord will take care of me.”
The waters continued to rise and the man drowned. As he entered Heaven he said, “Lord, why did you not rescue me?” And God responded, “I tried and all three times you refused.”
I don’t know the source of this story but I love its clarity in how we ‘seek’ God with a mindset of what the rescue will look like and how it will will take place.
If you are drowning, God sees you and the life raft you are expecting may look very different from what you envision. Trust.
This eagle in the video from Alaska put aside every instinct that it has to accept the rescue that it was presented. Maybe, just maybe it’s time to lay aside your expectations and assumptions and accept the better plans that God has for you.
He loves you more than you can ever possibly love yourself. A great starting point for shedding what is behind and walking into what He has planned and placed before you begins with a mustard seed of faith, that He will multiply into a life of joy, purpose and fulfillment. Faith.
“I lift up my eyes to the mountains—where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.” Psalm 121:1-2. Love.
